WHO WE ARE.
Everyone has a “why” -- their individual inspiration to do something. My “why” is found in the calm and solace I found crocheting when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Crocheting and knitting during that tumultuous time brought me back to my youth with my mother and grandmother – my happier times. It was the calm during the years I raised three active children as a single parent. I enjoyed making my daughters’ homecoming and prom dresses and working on costumes for our local high school drama productions. Crocheting or knitting is something I always come back to when my waters are turbulent; it stills everything around me. My grandkids will always find a ball of yarn and my knitting tools in my bag when I travel to work or for pleasure; when I visit a friend, or leisure time between church services. As the world stopped turning, I turned to crocheting for something to do – watching reruns a 9 th or 10 th time is overrated. I made so many hats, scarves and blankets I donated them to the breast cancer centers in my area – I was a beneficiary of the love given by others; it was only right to give back what was given to me. .While I sat with the rest of the world consumed by the walls of my home during COVID, I dabbled in jewelry making and sand art. These artistic outlets helped calm my mind during a time when the entire world was becoming couch potatoes. As I continued to explore my artistic abilities and options, I found it difficult to find items that I wanted to use in one general area. I had to search various websites to find the right bead, the proper yarn, or the correct utensil for my project. As I aimlessly wandered websites and brick and mortar stores to find my items, the light bulb went off and that’s how Mom Crafts n More was created!
